2. General information on data processing

The operation of budbrain.de is deliberately designed to minimise data:

• No tracking or analytics services are used (no Google Analytics, no Matomo, no pixels).
• Only a single, technically functional cookie is used — set exclusively by your active language choice (see below).
• There is no user login, no guestbook and no contact form.
• No personal data is actively collected, stored or processed by the site operator.

Language cookie (bb_lang): When you select a language via the language switcher, a single cookie named bb_lang is set, which contains exclusively your selected language code (e. g. en) and applies to the entire budbrain.de domain (the main site as well as the /budbrain-software/ and /testing/ areas). Its sole purpose is to greet you in your preferred language on subsequent visits — no tracking, no profiling, no disclosure to third parties. The cookie is set exclusively by your active language choice; as a cookie strictly necessary for this function requested by you, it requires no consent under § 25 Abs. 2 TDDDG (legal basis Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO, legitimate interest in correct language output). It expires after one year and can be deleted in the browser at any time. On the main site you are additionally asked before it is stored permanently; if you choose “Only this time” there, no cookie is stored for that visit.

3. Hosting / server log files

As part of the technical operation, the web server host automatically records server log files (e. g. IP address, browser type, time of access, requested URL). This data is processed exclusively to ensure trouble-free operation and to ward off attacks. The legal basis is Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO (legitimate interest).

4. External fonts (Google Fonts)

Fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) are loaded for display. In doing so, the IP address is transmitted to Google when the page is accessed. The legal basis is Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO (consistent, high-performance display). Further information: policies.google.com/privacy.

5. News from external RSS feeds

News articles come exclusively from the public RSS feeds of computerbase.de and golem.de. The feed retrieval takes place server-side by budbrain.de; no user data is transmitted to the feed providers during retrieval. However, the preview images embedded in the articles are loaded directly from the respective publisher servers (e. g. pics.computerbase.de, golem.de) — in doing so, your IP address is transmitted to these external servers.

6. Embedded content from YouTube and Flickr

Individual pages embed content from YouTube (Google Ireland Ltd.) and Flickr (SmugMug, Inc.) as embeds. When you access such pages, connections to the servers of these providers are established and your IP address as well as technical browser information are transmitted. budbrain.de has no influence on the extent of this data processing.

YouTube embeds are included in enhanced privacy mode (youtube-nocookie.com) — cookies are only set when you actively start a video. Further information: policies.google.com/privacy or flickr.com/help/privacy. The legal basis is Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO (legitimate interest in an appealing presentation of media content).

7. Songs and download files

When playing or downloading MP3 files, no personal data is processed by the site operator. The host logs the process in server log files (see point 3).

8. External links

This site contains links to external third-party websites (e. g. Computerbase, Golem, YouTube, Flickr). By clicking these links you leave budbrain.de. The respective privacy policies of the linked sites apply to the data processing on those sites.

9. Your rights

You have the right to information, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 DSGVO).
